That’s how long it’s been since the Second Continental Congress unanimously adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 right here in Philadelphia. The 13 American colonies were no longer content to be ruled by the British, so our forefathers affirmed our unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
